Annual Reports
Okay, it may not sound too flashy at first, but my team and I have worked hard to make The Moody Church’s Annual Reports worth reading and keeping. It’s not just about numbers or KPI’s; it’s about the people and ministries who make up our church family. The Annual Report is a celebration of the past ministry year, while also building anticipation for the year to come.
As the Moody Church Communications Coordinator, it’s my responsibility to coordinate with over a dozen contributors, both internal and external, to ensure consistency and excellence in this report.
THE KICK-OFF
Setting the Direction: Every annual report begins with a clear creative direction. Our team establishes a theme for the year that shapes everything from the cover design to the tone and content of each letter, giving the report a cohesive story and a distinct focus.
Building the System: Like many great things in life, it starts with a comprehensive checklist. I develop a clear system for communicating with contributors, tracking deliverables, and keeping everyone aligned on what’s needed and when.
Gathering the Story: Once the framework is in place, we hit the ground running. I coordinate with teams across the organization to gather key highlights, milestones, stories, and data from the year, bringing together the pieces that will ultimately tell the bigger story.
COORDINATING CONTENT
Contributor collaboration: Communicating with contributors to gather, organize, and shape their content into a cohesive final product.
Editorial process: Bringing content through an editorial review process and incorporating feedback to strengthen clarity, consistency, and storytelling.
Annual Report storytelling: Writing a significant portion of the Annual Report, weaving together highlights, stories, and content collected throughout the year to capture the impact of the ministry.
THE RELEASE
From there, the Report is finalized and shared with the congregation at our Annual Meeting. It has become a valuable way to keep our congregation and donors informed about the work happening across our ministries, while showing how their support contributes to meaningful impact in our city and around the world.
